Open Practice

Every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6:00 pm in 1 and 2 Sparks, the Penn State Speech & Debate Society holds its open practice. These practices provide opportunities for Penn State students to hone their persuasive speaking skills. All Penn State students are welcome to attend and participate in the Society’s practices.

At each practice, the Speech & Debate Society holds lectures and practice rounds. Students are invited to participate, to speak from the audience, or to help judge. Coaches Margaret Michels, Dustin Greenwalt, and Zack Shinall take turns running the open practice. They provide argument training and speaking advice to those who participate.
